- Taste profile: 

                - Caramelized brown sugar

                - Honey and molasses

                - Soft juicy acidity

- Average score: 84 - 85

- Altitude: 1800 meters above sea level

Sharp Specialty Coffee

Sharp is a Loja - Ecuador specialty coffee by DISTRICT Roasters with the following characteristics:

- Farmed by Finca El Aguacate and associated small-scale farmers

- Taste profile: 

                - Vanilla bean

                - Maple pancakes

                - Caramelized brown sugar

- Average score: 83 - 84

- Altitude: 1800 meters above sea level

Why Loja coffee?

The province of Loja in Ecuador has a coffee tradition of cultivating Typica, Caturra, and Bourbon coffee for more than 50 years. Resulting from the biodiversity and exotic landscape of this country, Loja is a province with vast specialty coffee farming experience. 


Coffee is one of the most environmentally friendly crops. It has no "carbon or water footprint". Coffee trees grow in slopes among other local plant species that provide needed shade, allowing conservation of local flora and fauna and helping reduce erosion. 

Where is it grown?

Coffee is farmed by small and medium-scale landowners at an altitude that range between 1,400 and 1,800 m.s.l. in the province of Loja

What is its taste?

Loja coffee is a differentiated specialty coffee with a unique fruity and sweet flavor loved by many customers.  

Why Loja coffee?

Buying specialty coffee from HARVEC allows to directly support Loja farmers though a more equitable distribution of the value chain profits. Loja coffee family groups are willing to optimize and modernize their crops to improve competitiveness. HARVEC and local partners help assist small-scale coffee growers in implementing the following sustainable farming practices:


a. Planting local tree and plant species that are suitable for the coffee ecosystems to reinforce land slopes, and produce organic fertilizer production from waste foliage 


b. Improving irrigation systems


c. Improve harvest, post-harvest (fermentation and drying practices)

Loja green specialty coffee is currently available in 60kg GrainPro bags to roasters in Texas.
